Vance Gloster's Home Page: Work

As we join the story our hero has already had a career as a professional musician, and decided it was not the life he wanted. He then went back to college, dropped out to start a business, and eventually went to work doing engineering for Edwards Air Force Base.

1980

Worked at Edwards AFB. Edwards is the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) where they test new things that fly. The main work at Edwards is tracking things that fly, recording and analyzing the data. I built a variety of real-time data transformation and analysis tools for them.

1982

Designed telephones for American Telecommunications Corp., which was later bought by Comdial. Eventually the economics of the telephone business changed and the company moved most of its manufacture to Asia. I spent a great deal of 1984 in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Korea.

1985

Start doing consulting for Edwards AFB again. Doing similar work as before. Also started a company to develop products for the music industry with Michael Stewart.

1990

Just as Desert Storm was being launched I was hired by Inference, a company making Artificial Intelligence development tools. Interesting work, interesting people, interesting times.

1993

Various consulting, including work for State Of The Art.

1994-2000

Began working for Symantec/Peter Norton. Worked on Norton Destop Administrator, Norton Administrator, did a lot on Norton AntiVirus 2000, and a little bit on Norton Internet Security. From time to time I took a break where I worked for companies like Microcadam for a few months.

2000-2002

Was Director of R&D for MicroVault Corp. This was a great experience, where my team made a remarkable amount of progress bringing a great product to maturity. The product was NetCourier, an automated email encryption server.

2002-Present

Founded Veric Software with Ric Buskirk, and we have been taking the product, Accompli, to market with good success. I have also been working with NetCourier Corp., who now market NetCourier.
